After Zimbabwe gained independence in 1980, the country was ruled by Robert Mugabe. Now he is 92 years old, and the greatest value of his life is the young (52-year-old) wife Grace, who for the love of the Italian Fashion House was popularly called Gucci Grace or First Customer. On the night of November 15, a military coup took place in the country – heavy military equipment appeared in Harare, Robert was put under house arrest, and the magnificent Grace fled supposedly to her native Namibia, taking her wardrobe and diamonds. All her life as the first lady of the country, Grace mercilessly spent her money, did not spare her enemies and friends, strengthening her power.
Grace was born in Namibia and, together with her parents, immigrated to Zimbabwe in the farm town of Chivu. Here she was educated at a missionary school, and then entered the secretarial college. After graduating, she went to work in parliament, where she was met by Robert. Then Grace was married to an air force officer of Zimbabwe, Stanley Gorerats, whom Mugabe urgently sent to China as a military attaché. Mugabe’s first wife was already very ill at that time. When in 1992 she died of kidney failure, Robert and Grace were able to openly declare their relationship. In 1996 they played a luxurious wedding. Among the guests was Nelson Mandela, and the president of Mozambique, Joaquin Chissano, witnessed Robert.Grace and Robert Mugabe
For some time after the wedding, Grace played the role of a silent wife, occupied herself with the accumulation of wealth at the expense of kleptocracy – a rather thrifty Mugabe was not so familiar in Zimbabwe. In 2003, his second wife built a huge presidential villa, which the Zimbabweans nicknamed “Graceland.” Then there was a state-of-the-art dairy plant and a private nature reserve. But she still remained in the shadow of her husband, who in time only more and more is blinded from love, which only stirred political ambitions of Grace. Robert spent so many years at the helm of the ruling party that he cultivated a cult of personality. He ruled the country as his own fiefdom, and, as is often the case with dictators, did not resist the issue of inheritance of power. And since there was no direct successor, Grace put an eye on his place. In addition, this path has already been trampled by other political wives: Evita Peron, Imelda Marcos, Madame Mao. Why not Grace?

She overcame the resistance of his first wife, Sally’s favorite from Ghana, which the nationalists nicknamed “Amai” -mama. But there was another problem with the alleged ascension to the throne of Zimbabwe. Be that as it may, she was too young to play any role in the War of Independence, and she did not have a credit of confidence like Sally, who, for example, had a campaign to fight for the rights of political prisoners. Grace believed that her status as the wife of Robert Mugabe would be overridden, and in order to add value, in 2014 she received the world’s fastest PhD – for 2 months – at the University of Zimbabwe. Then she flew up the party ladder, heading the women’s league of the ruling party “Zimbabwean African National Union – Patriotic Front”, and went on a tour of the country in a car with her image.
Robert is weakening at this time, he is already bad on his feet and at the last performance at the UN walked to the rostrum on the backs of the seats. And Grace at this time buys a 100-carat diamond ring for £ 1.1 million, sues the jeweler, because the diamond is not the one (the latter had to flee from her anger) and covers the drinking sons of Robert in Dubai. By the way, the guys could easily get into any of the account-accounts about the golden youth – in their social networks they gladly water the clock costing $ 60,000 with champagne for £ 350.
